Challenges you face when learning/teaching online

 The online learning has many challenges. It is a hard task to keep students engaged. So teacher should know how to keep her students motivated to show on task behavior. Another challenge is the internet. Not all the students have internet access or equipment. The computer knowledge and technical issues are major problems that students can face during online learning. Many students are not well equipped with a high internet connection that is required for online learning.  Teachers need to manage teaching time well because a lesson may take more time because of students interactions or questions. So the teacher should give time for questions and feedback to finish the lesson on time. It needs time and effort for better learning outcomes. 

What can you do now that we were not able to do a year ago?

Our lives have been forever changed by the Covid 19 pandemic. It has been a hard year that gave us important lessons. I started learning online in the university and work at the same time. I learned to manage my time and use the technology to improve my students' skills. Staying at home gives me the opportunity to discover new tools that facilitate my work . My students become more engaged and involved. I learned how to design a lesson and activities that fit my students' need. Now ,I am learning a new language online with a native speaker and this helps me to achieve my dream. 

How online learning can benefit the special need students ?

 E-learning give the special needs students the opportunity to learn at a pace that they feel comfortable with. They can learn from their houses without going to school and by using different tools. It includes more visual and auditory learning tools. In addition , disabled children face difficult time in schools as they get treated differently such as bullying by peers leading to anxiety. So they need more encouragement  to help in their academics and the teacher can motivate them online and they become more self-confident. Finally , teacher can customize specific subjects and activities for them. To sum up,  online learning is flexible and very convenient for the disabled students. 

What do you think students should be taught when working online to avoid problems

First of all , teacher should give the students the chance to discover the new tools that they are going to use during online learning . This will let them feel comfortable and enjoy using these tools. In addition, students should know the meaning of online safety and the importance of staying safe online. Moreover, teacher should be aware of sites they ask students to use to watch videos for example. Some sites need the presence of parents and their supervision. For example , using Youtube to watch videos should be under parental supervision. Finally , before using a new tool, the teacher should try it and make sure that it is an effective and useful one before introducing it to the students.  Parents and schools should cooperate to avoid problem when working online. 

How to be a digital citizen ?

Nowadays, the technology including social media and internet play an important role in our life .We rely on social media platforms to sat in touch with friends and family or to keep up with current trends.

First of all let's define the term digital citizen. Digital citizen means the person who knows how to use technology in an appropriate manner. A good digital citizen is someone who is mindful of  the interactions and the posts od people. This allow the individual to benefit from the positive things that internet or social media offer.  By educating students about digital citizenship they will have the opportunity to develop an understanding about the internet safety and security. Students will benefit from the technology and stay safe on social media. 

Tools that can be used in online assessment

In have a lot of tools that can be used in online assessment . We have the Mentimeter, Kahoot , Poll Everywhere, Google Form and Socratives, 

Socratives can be used as an assessment tool so teacher can assess and grade the quiz. Teacher can make quizez and they are graded in real time. It lets create polls and different types of questions. It works on smartphones, tablets and laptops. 

Mentimeter: It can be used for listening skills assessment , icebrakers, formative assessment , post lecture survey and polls. It is really a useful tool that keep students e
ngaged and facilitate the teacher's work. 

 Kahoot is a game based assessment tool so teacher can create a quiz game in a short time. The teacher can add youtube videos to the quiz. It creates an interactive experience. 

Is Technology Evil ?

Being a teacher is one of the most important jobs that one can have. It is about building character, being able to communicate and being able to teach effectively. Teachers are role model for their students. They do not only teach, they also motivate and inspire their students. They make them realize their potential and important steps in life.  So teacher should know how to let her students more engaged knowing that teaching nowadays is different than before. 

I believe that technology has become an integral in our lives. It presences in the classroom helps students connect to information . It creates meaningful learning experience for students of all ages. Using technology in the classroom creates opportunities for students to be actively engaged in learning.  Students can use their own laptops or tablets to create presentation or do their homeworks. For example, using Powerpoint presentations provide an opportunity for students to engage in discussions. It encourages student-centered project based learning.  Kahoot , Padlet, Jamboard are also tools that help students participate with their friends and teachers by sharing ideas and interacting with each other. Moreover , teacher can give feedback easily and explain the lesson using videos and games  .Online learning become more enjoyable by using these new tools.

 Finally ,students can use technology in their classroom which makes learning more enjoyable.  Having fun in the class is very important to keep student involved and engaged. So we can say that teachers play a major role in the teaching process and they can create a safe and fun environment while using technology in their classroom. 

EDUC561 Class

 This course is really an amazing course,  and I  took it because I really want to learn about the new tools that can help me during online learning. I started using the new tools that I learned about and it improves a lot my work.  I learned to use Google docs and make a quiz which is really useful in my work ,so I benefit from each single information in order to improve my work and stay updated with everything new. In addition , I create my own blog so I started writing posts and articles.
